The University of Southampton is partnering with TU Delft and Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Centre (SUNUM) in a landmark six-year €9M EU-funded project supported by the Horizon Europe Program Teaming call. The launch meeting of the project was held on January 30, 2025 at SUNUM in Istanbul. Along with researchers and officials from TU Delft and SUNUM, Dr Dimitra Georgiadou and Professor Stephen Beeby from UoS attended the kick-off meeting of the project during which they undertook a visit at SUNUM's existing laboratories and cleanrooms.

The major expected outcome of the project TeamNANO (Teaming for Capacity Development and Synergies in Micro-Nanofabrication and Flexible Electronics for Widespread Impact) is “the enhancement of SUNUM’s expertise in flexible printed electronics and nanofabrication, through updating its infrastructure, strengthening collaborations with key European organisations, and improving skills through training in commercialisation, communication and public policy”, said  Dr Dimitra Georgiadou, the UoS PI affiliated both with the Optoelectronics Research Centre and Electronics & Computer Science, in an interview she gave during the event.

UoS and TU Delft, as two leading European Centres of Excellence and Advanced Partners of the TeamNANO, will provide their unique expertise to create advanced, smart, and connected flexible electronic platforms. UoS’s recognised leadership in nanofabrication, flexible electronics, AI hardware, as well as being the home to cutting-edge Nanofabrication facilities and the Centre for Flexible Electronics and e-Textiles (C-FLEET), played a key-role in securing this grant.
