Professor Nikolay Zheludev, Deputy Director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), University of Southampton, has recently been announced as a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award winner.

The award, funded by the Wolfson Foundation and the Office of Science and Technology is given to UK Universities to help them attract or retain respected scientists of outstanding achievement and potential.

Professor Zheludev, a former Senior Research Professor of the EPSRC and the Leverhulme Trust leads the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Portfolio Centre on Nanophotonics and has been recently announced as the Director of a £6million EPSRC Programme on Nanostructured Photonic Metamaterials hosted at the University of Southampton.
